Editorial review of XTB: regulation, platforms, fees and verdict
XTB, owned by the Polish-based and publicly listed XTB Group, established itself as a trusted market leader for Forex and CFD traders. It offers traders its proprietary xStation 5, a choice of more than 4,000 assets, deep liquidity, and a highly competitive commission-free cost structure. I reviewed XTB to determine if it offers traders a competitive edge. Should you open an account with XTB?

XTB is a brokerage established in 2002, headquartered in United Kingdom. This editorial review walks through regulation, platforms, fees, and who XTB is best suited for. The assessment is based on publicly disclosed information and is intended as a starting point for your own due diligence — always demo-test and verify the regulated entity you will be onboarded to.
The broker should be checked against your local regulator's register before depositing funds. Broker oversight matters because regulators enforce capital adequacy, segregated client accounts and transparent pricing disclosures. Where multiple regulators are involved, identify which entity holds the contract for your jurisdiction.
The supported trading platforms include: Proprietary platform. Each platform has trade-offs in charting depth, automation support and order types — pick the one that matches your strategy rather than what is marketed loudest.
Spreads, commissions and overnight financing rates for XTB are documented in the official fee schedule. Do not skip the fee schedule — non-trading costs (inactivity, withdrawal, conversion) often compound more than spreads for casual traders.
Maximum leverage is described as leverage in line with regional regulatory caps, subject to the regulator and account profile.
The published minimum deposit is $0 as of the latest editorial review. XTB markets a curated set of CFD and FX instruments, which determines the breadth of strategies you can run on a single account.
Pros
Cons
This editorial assessment of XTB is intended to highlight what the broker publicly discloses and where to focus your own due diligence. Demo-test the platform, verify the regulated entity you will onboard to, and review the fee schedule before funding an account. Past performance and broker reputation are not a substitute for hands-on testing.

Having traded forex for six years across four brokers, XTB sits comfortably in my top three. Charting and execution feel responsive on my setup. Slippage on stop orders is minor and within tolerance for my system. The web platform handles multi-monitor setups without complaints. Demo-test the asset coverage you actually trade before committing real capital.
Casual trader with a small account. XTB doesn't penalise you for not trading every day — no aggressive 'inactivity' nudges in the inbox. Charting and execution feel responsive on my setup. Found a couple of UI quirks on Safari that resolved by switching to Chrome. Nothing platform-breaking; logged it with support and got a courtesy follow-up the same week.
Long-term position trader. I value boring stability over flashy promotions, and XTB delivers that. I checked the regulator disclosures myself before depositing. The platform doesn't shake me out of trades on weekend gaps the way some smaller brokers have. Reporting tools are good enough for my tax accountant. Will continue using.
I run a discretionary news strategy and XTB's execution around the FOMC and ECB releases has been acceptable. Some slippage is unavoidable, but it has stayed within tolerance. Charting and execution feel responsive on my setup. The economic calendar integration is well-done — events are colour-coded by impact and link directly to the relevant currency exposure on my watchlist.
Opened a small live account at XTB to test the execution after a month on demo. I checked the regulator disclosures myself before depositing. Order fills are tight; haven't experienced obvious requoting on EUR/USD or GBP/USD even during NFP. The mobile app could use a little polish, but the core charting and order ticket do what I need. Would recommend for swing traders comfortable with the documentation.
Algorithmic trader running a portfolio of EAs. Charting and execution feel responsive on my setup. Connection stability has been excellent over the last quarter — no unexplained disconnects. The commission structure is straightforward to model in backtests. Account manager reached out proactively after a deposit, which I appreciate without it feeling pushy.
